Brian Ebersole made his UFC debut this weekend at UFC 127, and he did something we've never seen anyone do in the UFC before: He shaved his chest hair into an arrow, pointing up to his own face.What would make a man shave his chest hair in this way? I have no idea. Ebersole is an odd bird, known for participating in some strange fights and pulling off some unusual moves during his 60-plus fights on the small-time MMA circuit, so maybe he just thought turning his chest hair into an arrow was one more way of distinguishing himself.
Maybe the chest hair was a lucky charm.

MATCH SUMMARY
D.C. United completed its 2011 preseason training camp in California with a friendly against Chivas USA on Friday, February 25 at 3:00 PM ET on the training fields of The Home Depot Center. Both teams used over ten substitutes and played to a scoreless draw. Despite the lack of scoring, the Black-and-Red took plenty away from their first contest against Major League Soccer opposition in 2011.�
"It was good to play against some grown men today. I thought overall it was a very good exercise to see where we're at right now. Today I saw some good stuff, and the things we need to work on before the home opener," said United Head Coach Ben Olsen.�
The tempo of today's contest was very different from what United has encountered thus far in preseason. From the beginning, the match with Chivas was physical and fast-paced, with the Los Angeles club enjoying possession in the first 10 minutes. However, once the Black-and-Red settled in, it was United that generated much of the offense throughout the first half.�
In the second half Olsen made several changes to his team, beginning with alterations to the front line. Davies and Joseph Ngwenya made way for Chris Pontius and Josh Wolff. Further changes followed as the half progressed.�
Ultimately Olsen was pleased with his side's chance creation and physical play, particularly from young players like Perry Kitchen and Chris Korb. "Its good for our young guys to see what to expect in terms of physical play in the regular season," said Olsen.
"There is a definite pace to League games, and this was a good exercise in that regard. All of the players did a good job, and we found out some things that we are doing okay with and some things we need to work on."
Several big names in the American game were on hand to observe today's match. U.S. National Team Head Coach Bob Bradley and his staff were present, alongside the Los Angeles Galaxy's Tom Payne and Bruce Arena. United President and CEO Kevin Payne flew into LA for the contest, and ESPN commentator Alexi Lalas was also on the sidelines.�
Today's draw drops United to 5-0-1 in preseason play. Tomorrow the Black-and-Red fly back to Washington for four days before departing once more for the Carolina Challenge Cup on March 4.�

While some of his teammates were relaxing and on vacation during the offseason, D.C. United defender Jed Zayner was busy welcoming a new member to his family.
His wife Katie gave birth to the couple?s first child on Nov. 24, and for the following two months Zayner quickly made a big adjustment to fatherhood, caring for his wife and newborn child.
?It?s a full-time job,? Zayner told MLSsoccer.com. ?I told her I was her nanny for the next couple of months. She definitely utilized that. I swear those first two weeks were a blur in my head and still are.?
Becoming a father was certainly a huge change for the 26-year-old defender. But while making that transition, he also made sure to maintain a high level of fitness, and he was prepared to hit the ground running with United when preseason began in January.
This camp marks his first with the team after joined DC from the Columbus Crew last August in exchange for a draft pick.

The move gave the versatile defender a chance at more playing time, and he started all nine of the games he appeared in during the season?s second half.
He was certainly there long enough to know why things didn?t go well last season for United, and has already noticed the shifting mentality put in place by head coach Ben Olsen.
?I think the biggest thing last year is we took off during plays, and I don?t think we were as focused as we could be,? he said.
?That came from lack of motivation, lack of team chemistry, all of the above. This year, Ben?s crunching on it hard. He?s making sure everybody works every second of the day, and no one takes time off.?
Even though the preseason is just past the halfway point, Zayner is focused on putting in the work to ensure he?s in the starting lineup.
While he bounced around last year in DC, playing on the left, right and in the middle, he admitted to preferring the right side.
?Right back?s definitely my favorite because I can get up and down the line and swing balls in,? he said.
Off the field, he?s also thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with the team and thinks that there?s a good vibe in the group, even after only a few weeks traveling together ? a good sign for the coming season.
Two of those new faces in camp, Chris Korb and Perry Kitchen, are indirectly tied to Zayner?s through their college roots. Korb and Kitchen were drafted out of Akron, and their coach, Caleb Porter, was an assistant during Zayner?s playing days for Indiana.
?These boys definitely have the Hoosier mentality of fighting hard and doing whatever it takes to win,? he said.
