Celtics' Marquis Daniels Leaves Game on Stretcher After Neck Injury (Video)

February 6 2011 Last updated at 03:52 PM ET

Early in the second quarter of Sunday's Eastern Conference Finals rematch between the Celtics and the Magic, Boston's Marquis Daniels was posting up Gilbert Arenas with his back to the basket, then faced up and began to make his move. In doing so, his head made contact with Arenas's chest, and Daniels immediately collapsed to the floor, where he remained motionless for a few minutes before being taken off on a stretcher.

Video of the injury can be seen in the clip below.

Daniels did give the crowd a thumbs up as he was being carted off, so let's hope that's a good sign.

Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, the NBA's leading scorer, sent along his get-well wishes via Twitter, saying "Prayers were definitely sent up for Marquis Daniels, hope it is not too serious!" I think it's safe to say we all share in that sentiment.

UPDATE: The word from the Celtics is that Daniels' injury is a bruised spinal cord, which will keep him out of action for at least a month.
